At Akkumaş Textile, the health and safety of our employees is always our top priority. We consider eliminating or minimizing the risks our employees may be exposed to during their work-related activities, and managing occupational health and safety risks, as an extremely important and continuously improving process.
To this end, with the full support of senior management, all necessary resources are identified; and all problems and deficiencies that may arise, taking into account changing national and global conditions, are promptly addressed.
Our OHS Management Approach
Our Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) activities are carried out within the framework of our OHS Policy, which we have established in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 and the Occupational Health and Safety Management System standards.
All commitments defined in our policy are fulfilled, and with a continuous improvement approach, we are advancing our OHS performance day by day. In line with our goals of zero workplace accidents, zero lost workdays, and zero fires, all our routine and non-routine activities are regularly reviewed.
Training, Awareness, and Participation
In accordance with legal regulations, all our employees receive theoretical and practical occupational safety and health (OSH) training every year.
Our occupational safety specialists, workplace physicians, health personnel, fire brigades, and all our employees actively participate in the OSH management system to create a safe working environment.
The OSH Handbook prepared for our employees clearly and understandably defines all the rules that must be followed in our workplace.
In addition, informational documents prepared for visitors and subcontractor employees are presented to them at the entrance, and necessary explanations are provided.
Auditing and Risk Management
All unsafe situations and behaviors identified on the factory premises through daily, weekly, and monthly field audits conducted by our occupational safety specialists are promptly addressed.
Risk assessments are carried out by the OSH Risk Team established in accordance with legal regulations and are renewed every four years. This team; The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Committee consists of the employer's representative, the OHS specialist, the workplace physician, employee representatives, support staff, and representatives from all relevant units. Nonconformities identified as a result of risk assessments are analyzed, and risk levels are reduced to acceptable levels.
OHS Committee and Monitoring Processes
Akkumaş Tekstil has an OHS Committee operating under the chairmanship of the employer's representative. The committee meets every two months in accordance with legal regulations; all OHS-related issues are evaluated, decisions are recorded in meeting minutes, and implemented.
Health Surveillance and Medical Support
The health status of our employees is monitored by our workplace physicians through periodic health screenings conducted upon employment and every three years. These processes are carried out through authorized institutions within the scope of the "Regulation on the Procedures and Principles of Medical Examinations for the Health Surveillance of Employees".
Our factory has a fully equipped Occupational Health and Safety Unit. This unit implements all necessary measures to create a healthy and safe working environment for employees from the recruitment process onwards.
In the event of possible workplace accidents or occupational diseases, workplace physicians, health personnel, and certified first aid personnel on duty in each shift provide rapid intervention; when necessary, injured individuals are safely transported to healthcare facilities.
Participatory Occupational Health and Safety Culture
The opinions, suggestions, and feedback of our employees regarding occupational health and safety are of great importance to us. All feedback received through suggestion, complaint, and feedback boxes is meticulously evaluated. Furthermore, "near miss" reports from our employees are carefully examined, necessary actions are taken quickly, and continuous improvement of processes is ensured.
Drills and Emergency Management
Evacuation, fire, and environmental drills are organized annually with the participation of all our employees. These practices aim to increase our employees' familiarity with emergency procedures and to enable them to respond quickly and safely in times of crisis.
In line with this, Emergency Response Teams are formed, receive specialized training according to their job descriptions, and participate in various scenario drills throughout the year.
