Akkumaş Textile Featured on “Sectoral Analysis” Program
Chairman of the Board Hüsamettin Akkaya: “Sustainability is no longer an option; it is the very future of textiles.”
Akkumaş Textile Enterprises Inc., one of Turkey's long-established textile companies, was a guest on the “Sectoral Analysis” program, where developments, innovations, and production trends in the sector were discussed. In the program, Chairman of the Board Hüsamettin Akkaya shared both the current state of the Turkish textile industry and Akkumaş's future vision with the viewers.
“We Invest in Innovation with the Strength We Draw from Our Roots”
Speaking at the program, Hüsamettin Akkaya emphasized that Akkumaş Textile has been operating with a continuous development approach since 1986:
“As Akkumaş, we combine our nearly 40 years of experience with an innovative perspective. We continuously renew our production capacity and technological infrastructure in line with the requirements of the age. We are moving forward with a sustainable, competitive, and high-quality production approach both in Turkey and in the global market.”
Sustainability: The Foundation of Akkumaş's Production Philosophy
Hüsamettin Akkaya stated that sustainability has become a necessity in the textile sector, and described Akkumaş's investments in this area with the following words:
“For us, sustainability is not only about the environment; it is also a reflection of our responsibility to people, society, and the economy.
We are accelerating the transition to renewable energy sources. With the Solar Power Plant (SPP) we established in our facilities in Uşak, we meet half of our energy consumption from environmentally friendly sources.
In addition, we carry out production processes in accordance with international standards in areas such as waste management, water recovery, and the use of environmentally friendly chemicals.”
On the Path to Becoming a Global Denim Brand
Akkaya emphasized that Akkumaş Tekstil has gained a significant place in the global market with its AKDENİM brand, expressing its production philosophy centered on innovation and quality as follows:
“With our AKDENİM brand, we supply fabrics to the world's leading denim brands.
Today, denim is not just a fabric; it's a symbol of style, durability, and culture. We are proud to be a part of this culture. Our product range includes eco-friendly fabrics made from organic cotton, tencel, lyocell, dualcore, and recycled fibers. We are developing innovative production techniques that will set the trends in the fashion world.”
A Human-Centered, Innovative Corporate Culture
The importance Akkumaş Tekstil places on its human resources was also highlighted in the program. Akkaya stated, “A strong team spirit, as well as advanced technology, is the key to sustainable success.” He continued his speech by saying:
“Today, we produce in a 12,500 m² closed area with our expert staff of 180 people.
We organize continuous training programs for the development of our employees and implement occupational health and safety standards at the highest level.
We act with a management approach focused on quality, environment, and people at every step of production.”
“Textile, Turkey’s Strategic Power”
At the closing of the program, Hüsamettin Akkaya touched upon the strategic role of the textile sector in the Turkish economy:
“Textile is the cornerstone of Turkey’s production, export, and employment power.
The world is now turning to smart production and sustainable supply chains instead of fast fashion.
The Turkish textile sector has strong potential in this transformation. As Akkumaş, we aim to be one of the pioneers of this transformation.”
A Brand Shaping the Future
The program concluded with vision messages regarding Akkumaş Textile’s investments that strengthen its position both locally and globally. As emphasized by Chairman of the Board Hüsamettin Akkaya; Akkumaş Tekstil, as a brand that "draws strength from its past and looks to the future with innovation," is determined to continue carrying Turkey's textile heritage into the future.
